World Livestock Auctioneer Champion, other top auctioneers, working special sale Oct. 6 at Coffeyville, Kan., Livestock Market

COFFEYVILLE, KAN. – Charly Cummings, winner of the 2011 World Livestock Auctioneer Championship (WLAC), will join other champion auctioneers here Oct. 6, to help the Coffeyville Livestock Market, LLC, celebrate its 7th anniversary.
In addition to Cummings, the parade of champions working a special cattle sale will include:
…The Coffeyville Market’s co-owner, Brian Little. He’s been in the annual WLAC, now in its 48th year, “about a dozen times.”  His highest finish was in 2006, when he was named runner-up world champion, or third place.
…Justin Dodson, Welch, Okla. He won the reserve world champion title, or second place, at this year’s WLAC.
…Jay Romine, Mt. Washington, Ky., a frequent WLAC contestant and among the ten finalists in this year’s contest.
The sale will begin at 11 a.m. with about 150 stock cows, followed by about 1,500 calves and yearlings.
Little said a complimentary beef luncheon “will be served beginning about 11 a.m., because in addition to celebrating our anniversary, Oct. 6 is also Customer Appreciation Day.”
The sale is free and open to the public.  The market is located at 822 West 14th Street.
Little called his friend Cummings, from Yates Center , Kan., “a great auctioneer.  I have a lot of respect for him, and it’s going to be a real pleasure working with him.”
The market’s customers, he said, will enjoy “listening to, and meeting, all these talented auctioneers.”
Cummings, 32, defeated 32 other contestants to win the 2011 WLAC in June, in Williamston, S.C.  It was his fourth time competing for the world title
His previous highest finish was last year, when he was named runner-up world champion.  In 2008, he won the “Rookie of the Year” award, given to the first-time contestant with the highest score in that year’s semi-finals.
The WLAC is widely considered the World Series and Super Bowl of the livestock auctioneering profession.
The contest was created and is conducted by Livestock Marketing Association, the national trade association for progressive marketing businesses like the Coffeyville Market.
.In addition to being an auctioneer, Cummings is a partner in Southeast Kansas Stockyards in Gas, Kan.
During his year as champion, he is traveling across the U.S., appearing at LMA member markets and at industry events. And that’s just fine with him.
“I’m enjoying visiting marketing businesses like the Coffeyville Market, helping to turn the spotlight on what they do for America’s independent livestock producers, day in and day out and working with talented auctioneers and friends like Brian, Justin and Jay will make the day even better.”
