LMA commends Alabama Cattlemen’s Association induction of Jerry Etheredge
into Alabama Livestock Hall of Fame

MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Jerry Etheredge, Selma, Ala., was inducted into the Alabama Livestock Hall of Fame at the 75th annual Alabama Cattlemen’s Association (ACA) Convention and Trade Show Awards Banquet Saturday, March 10.

Etheredge grew up on a commercial cattle farm in Marengo County, Ala. His first exposure to livestock auction markets was as a cattle producer utilizing his local market for the sale of the calves he had raised. Today, he owns and operates two livestock markets, Montgomery Stockyards LLC in Montgomery, Ala. and Linden Stockyards Inc. in Linden, Ala.

ACA selected Etheredge due to his years of service and support of the livestock industry including serving as president of the Marengo County Cattlemen’s Association and president of the Alabama Livestock Market Association for several terms.

Etheredge is currently serving his second year as president of the Livestock Marketing Association (LMA) being the only Alabamian and one of a very few in the Southeast to obtain this honor.

“This is a well-deserved honor,” said Mark Mackey, LMA Chief Executive Officer.  “Jerry never wavers from his commitment to protect and serve the livestock industry. He has spent countless hours and many miles traveling to hear from his fellow market operators, as well as representing their interests in Washington, D.C. His commitment to the industry is exemplified in his efforts advocating for the creation of a Dealer Statutory Trust to provide improved financial protections for the livestock auction industry and livestock sellers.”
