LMA is excited to support the bipartisan introduction of the Responsible & Efficient Agricultural Destination (TREAD) Act that, if passed, will give agricultural commodity haulers additional flexibility. This legislation, introduced today by Reps. Angie Craig (MN-2) and Lloyd Smucker (PA-11), would give agricultural commodity haulers a 150-air mile grace period of exempt time from the hauler’s destination to allow for slow travel on rural roads and appropriate animal handling techniques upon arrival. This exemption would be used year-round and not just during times of planting and harvest. This is yet another step toward safe and efficient transportation of our nation’s livestock and crops.
